Ladies prepare the food early or before match start time.
Students complete their homework faster.
Kids do not want to go out and play is sports complex.
Romantic dates happen sitting hand in hand in front of a
projector.
Television sets gone blank for weeks, starts displaying starsports.com in offices.
People leave for home from office early.
Clubs have special discounts running for their favorite team
supporters.
Such is the environment during times of cricket – World Cup,
T-20, IPL etc.
Starsports.com has changed it a bit as now people need not be
at their home and sit in front of TV for the next favorite cricket match.
Irrespective of the match being live or online, we cannot escape the commentary
around us.
“Hat Nakli! Ye koi ball thi utha k marne wali…”
<Idiot, was is a ball to shoot in air? >
Come cricket and I have such experts comments from everyone
in my home on each and every ball.
Well, these days, cricket is never out of TV. But this IPL
and T-20, it has made people go crazy.
And this “come on bulava aaya hai” as if famous “Chalo Bulava
aaya hai mata ne bulaya hai” is no doubt catchy.
I still remember the last IPL season when Farah Khan stole
the heart by her “Junping Jappang Dil Jumping Jumping”. My kid used to wake up
from sleep if the tune played anywhere.
Keeping all excitement and craze apart, the funniest thing
about this game I find is the expert’s opinion. The international level top
batsmen and ballers would go and find an ounce of water to die into if they
ever hear how stupid they are. I know how badly I have tried to write/translate
this Hindi saying in English.
Anyways, coming to the point, they should come at my home
and watch a replay if their game with my family – to be precise, guys in my
family. But this does not mean Mummy, papa, children, or anyone else is lagging
behind. Everyone has tough competition on this…J
The batsman:
Gets LPW – Was he blind? Who keeps his leg as an invite to
allow baller and hit it?
Gets catch out – Useless fellow. All he knows is to hit as
hard as possible and let the ball fly.
Gets clean bowled – Who got him into the team? Can’t even
play such simple ball.
Takes no run – Has he applied heena to his feet? Why can’t
he run?
Hits off side – Can’t he see the empty space to hit a four
on his leg side?
Hits leg side – Oh no! He should have hit off side. Two runs
were there for sure.
Takes a single – Arrae! Why did he stop? Lost one run. Hu.
Plays a maiden over – All he can do is tuk-tuk. Wasted whole
over. Better he gets off field rather than wasting balls.
Invites a runner – Drama King.
The baller:
Throws a Yorker – That’s all he knows. Throw the ball like a
stone.
Gets six on his delivery – Who told him to throw a full toss
at this stage of game?
Throws a wide ball – Has he forgotten to wear his lenses?
Gets a four on his delivery – Even a 5 year kid would beat
this fellow to a century.
Throws a full toss – He should try to get the ball spin.
The baller throws a spin ball – How embarrassing! He is
leading to a shame towards people. Is that how to spin a ball?
I can go on and on for each and every ball of the match.
Going on to wicket keeper, fielder, umpire, third umpire and even the
commentator! I find it’s really funny and entertaining at the same time.
The Startsports.com “Action recap” feature just allows those
comments to go on and on even if we missed some action on the field. Just imagine the level of fun and craziness
when someone around us shouts any of the above comments out of the blue. Why?
He/She would be n Starsports.com and keeping his/her calm… ;)
I know you are smiling inside. This is the kind of cricket
mania I have at my home. What are the comments made when you watch cricket. The
funnier the better… ;)
