A Walk To Remember: My Favorite Lines

To read how I felt about the book, click here - AWalk To Remember by Nicholas sparks

God is merciful to children, but the children must be worthy as well.

Without suffering, there'd be no compassion.

Wishing someone luck before a play is supposed to be bad luck.

Sometimes, when you remember the things you used to do, it makes you wince...

Love is like the wind, you can't see it but you can feel it.

You know its love when all you want to do is spend time with the other person, and you sort of know that the other person feels the same way.

I don’t think that we're meant to understand it all the time. I think that sometimes we just have to have faith.

I cry to you, my lord, my rock!

Do not be deaf to me, for if you are silent, I shall go down to the pit like the rest. Hear my voice raised in petition as I cry to you for help, as I raise my hands, my Lord, toward your holy of holes.

I know the Lord has a plan for us all, but sometimes, I just don't understand what the message can be.

You feel fine, and then, when your body can't keep fighting, you don't

Find out who you are, and do it on purpose.

If you put your trust in God, you’ll be all right in the end.

If people don't like you, or they think you're strange, then that's their problem.

Love is always patient and kind. It is never jealous. Love is never boastful or conceited. It is never rude or selfish. It does not take offense and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people’s sins, but delights in the truth. It is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes

Miracles can happen

A Walk To Remember by Nicholas Spark

After a short break, Nicholas Sparks made entry to my bookshelf again. This was one book I had high hopes with. The expectations were partially met. There were some moments in the book that were exceptionally "Marvellous" (The depth of word would be known by reading the book...! ;))
I started the pages with little apprehension and for some initial chapters; I was convinced that I am not going to fall for it. But as I progressed, I realized that I could not put it down till it was finished.
A Walk To Remember is the story of Landon Carter who goes in flashback to narrate his love story. Landon Carter and Jamie Sullivan are perfectly portrayed as two teenagers completely different from each other. I read somewhere that it’s a "typical story of a jerk guy who fell in love to the swan".
My favorite part of the book was every time when Landon reminded himself not to fall in love with Jamie. It was really cute on how he defends himself again and again.
For a change, Nicholas Sparks did not make his characters fall in love overnight on a delicious dinner made by male lead. The love-birds took their own sweet time to do so.
I could personally relate to some instances in the book like when Jamie finally said those three magical words to Landon and the way Landon's friends kept teasing him for Jamie. We have seen the making of many couples from this teasing like this - Friends keep teasing two good friends until they start thinking if they are truly in love.
Then, there were times which actually brought tears to my eyes and then made me smile. I imagined myself and my loved ones in the place of different characters at different moments.
BY almost half of book, I was bit surprised that Mr. Sparks did not allow me to write down some quotes from this one. But slowly, my notepad was full of love.

The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks

Book Title:- The Wedding
Author:- Nicholas Sparks

Thirty years into the marriage can make any couple to be taken for granted for each other. Forgetting one’s marriage anniversary is no doubt the worst and most dreadful thing any husband can ever do his wife. This fact is well known and stated by all men – ‘ahh, Women..!”. But, the sinking feeling inside one's self when Wilson fears that his beloved wife Jane no longer loves him is the turning point in his life. Jane being the closest witness to undying love of her own parents Noah and Allie, Wilson himself being an inexpressive person by nature – He knows he has a hard time ahead to win her wife heart back. Noah gives him a perfect kick by confessing how he felt when Allie would not recognize him –

Every time I read to her, it was like I was courting her, because sometimes, just sometimes, she would fall in love with me again, just like she had a long time ago. And that's the most wonderful feeling in the world. How many people are ever given that chance? To have someone you love fall in love with you over and over?”

I truly loved the book and enjoyed it thoroughly. I do not know how, but I somehow predicted almost all the coming events. That did spoiled my experience a bit, but despite of that, I could not help but smile throughout the romantic trip. I could not help but notice the special love and bonding shared by parent and children described so effortlessly throughout the book. Obviously I would also do anything as eternal as Wilson’s Daughter did for him. I could very easily picture my brother in place of his son and the anger over his dad to hurt his mom.

I have some favourite lines from the book which I would like to note in my diary –

Here is the link to my Favorited lines from “The Wedding”.

Message In A Bottle by Nicholas Sparks

Book Title:- Message In A Bottle
Author:- Nicholas Sparks

 My Dearest Catherine,
I miss you, my darling, as I always do, but today is especially hard because the ocean has been singing to me, and the song is that of our life together. I can almost feel you beside me as I write this letter, and I can smell the scent of wildflowers that always reminds me of you. But at this moment, these things give me no pleasure. Your visits have been coming less often, and I feel sometimes as if the greatest part of who I am is slowly slipping away.
I am trying, though. At night when I am alone, I call for you, and whenever my ache seems to be the greatest, you still seem to find a way to return to me. Last night, in my dreams, I saw you on the pier near Wrightsville Beach. The wind was blowing through your hair, and your eyes held the fading sunlight. I am struck as I see you leaning against the rail. You are beautiful, I think as I see you, a vision that I can never find in anyone else. I slowly begin to walk toward you, and when you finally turn to me, I notice that others have been watching you as well. "Do you know her?" they ask me in jealous whispers, and as you smile at me, I simply answer with the truth. "Better than my own heart."I stop when I reach you and take you in my arms. I long for this moment more than any other. It is what I live for, and when you return my embrace, I give myself over to this moment, at peace once again.
I raise my hand and gently touch your cheek and you tilt your head and close your eyes. My hands are hard and your skin is soft, and I wonder for a moment if you'll pull back, but of course you don't. You never have, and it is at times like this that I know what my purpose is in life.
I am here to love you, to hold you in my arms, to protect you. I am here to learn from you and to receive your love in return. I am here because there is no other place to be.
But then, as always, the mist starts to form as we stand close to one another. It is a distant fog that rises from the horizon, and I find that I grow fearful as it approaches. It slowly creeps in, enveloping the world around us, fencing us in as if to prevent escape. Like a rolling cloud, it blankets everything, closing, until there is nothing left but the two of us.
I feel my throat begin to close and my eyes well up with tears because I know it is time for you to go. The look you give me at that moment haunts me. I feel your sadness and my own loneliness, and the ache in my heart that had been silent for only a short time grows stronger as you release me. And then you spread your arms and step back into the fog because it is your place and not mine. I long to go with you, but your only response is to shake your head because we both know that is impossible.
And I watch with breaking heart as you slowly fade away. I find myself straining to remember everything about this moment, everything about you. But soon, always too soon, your image vanishes and the fog rolls back to its faraway place and I am alone on the pier and I do not care what others think as I bow my head and cry and cry and cry.

I tried cropping some part of the letter, but i could not decide which is the less heart touching part. So, i end up putting the whole. This is the second book i read by Nicholas Sparks. This man has made me fall in love with his letters. Whenever i think about Message In a Bottle, first thing that struck my mind is "such beautiful letters". I wonder there would be any girl on this planet who would not fall for letters like them...!

It is the story of a lady - Theresa Osborne (divorced and the mother of a twelve-year-old son) whose life takes a drastic turn as she discovered a love letter inside a bottle while strolling on a beach. The story definitely kept me hooked on to the book and had nice twists. There were some moments where i sincerely felt that that i were there, i would have reacted the same.

I am not really able to recall my ffavouritepart of the book - there are many. One of them was the instant attraction between Garret and Theresa when they met for the first time. Everything looked so real and the proverb love at first sight proved itself right.

What would you write in the message if you ever set it free for nature? How did you like the book? Would you go ahead and read it after my thoughts on it? Write your heart/mind in comments section. I would be glad to read out your end of thinking on the book.

The Choice by Nicholas Sparks

Book Title:- The Choice

How far would you go to keep the hope of love alive?

I am glad I made the choice to read it. A love story so simple yet so fascinating. The author almost answered the questions and the good part was I myself found myself trying to imagine myself reacting to various situations explained.

This is third book from Mr. Nicholas Sparks which I have read and I must admit that it was not better than previous ones. But still, I really liked the way M. Sparks has recited the feelings from both boy and girl point of view.
My favorite part of the book was when Travis was exercising Gabby's muscles and was imagining her talking to him.

“Does that feel good, sweetheart?”
That feels wonderful. Thanks. I was feeling a little stiff.
He knew he’d imagined her answer, that Gabby hadn’t stirred. But her voice seemed to arise from nowhere whenever he worked with her like this. Sometimes he wondered whether he was going crazy. “How are you doing?”
Bored out of my head, if you want to know the truth. Thanks for the flowers, by the way. They’re lovely. Did you get them from Frick’s?
“Where else?”
How are the girls? Tell me the truth this time.
Travis moved to the other knee. “They’re okay. They miss you, though, and it’s hard on them. Sometimes I don’t know what to do.”
You’re doing the best you can, right? Isn’t that what we always tell each other?
“You’re right.”
Then that’s all I expect. And they’ll be okay. They’re tougher than they look.
“I know. They take after you.”
Travis imagined her looking him over, her expression wary.
You look skinny. Too skinny.
“I haven’t been eating much.”
I’m worried about you. You’ve got to take care of yourself. For the girls. For me.
“I’ll always be here for you.”
I know. I’m afraid of that, too. Do you remember Kenneth and Eleanor Baker?
Travis stopped flexing. “Yes.”
Then you know what I’m talking about.
He sighed and started again. “Yes.”
In his mind, her tone softened. Do you remember when you made us all go camping in the mountains last year? How you promised that the girls and I would love it?
He began working on her fingers and arms. “What brought that up?”
I think about a lot of things here. What else can I do? Anyway, do you remember that when we first got there, we didn’t even bother to set up camp…
…“I remember.”
I’m sorry about that. I shouldn’t have gotten so mad. Even though it was your fault.
“Why is it always my fault?”
He imagined her winking at him as he gently rolled her neck from side to side.
Because you’re such a good sport when I say it.
He bent over and kissed her on the forehead.
“I miss you so much.”
I miss you, too.
His throat clenched a little as he finished the exercise routine, knowing Gabby’s voice would begin to fade away again. He moved his face closer to hers. “You know you’ve got to wake up, right? The girls need you. I need you.”
I know. I’m trying.
“You’ve got to hurry.”
She said nothing, and Travis knew he’d pressed too hard.
“I love you, Gabby.”
I love you, too.
“Can I do anything? Close the blinds? Bring you something from home?”
Will you sit with me a while longer? I’m very tired.
“Of course.”
And hold my hand?
He nodded,

The section was so beautiful and made me smile along with a pinch of pain deep inside.
Overall, it was a beautiful Bollywood movie material. I was happy to see how the story in 'The Choice' ended.
